NICOL, Shirley Norene (nee Carson); On 1stDecember, 2019 at Clutha Views Lifecare, Balclutha; aged 88 years. Dearly loved wife and soulmate of the late Don ,cherished mother and mother-in-law of Fay and Gary Maguire, Murray and Jenny, Sharon and Michael, and the late Donna, much loved Nana Nic of Gavin and Shelley, Kelvin and Cheryl; Katrina and Dain, Royden and Dee; and Regan; great Nana Nic of Jayden, Sam and Amanda, Sean, Kobi, Keanu, Ollie, Bella, and Isla, great great Nana Nic of Bailey, and Archie. DARMODY, William James (Bill). On December 9, 2019 at Clutha Health First, surrounded by his loving family; aged 85 years. Dearly loved husband of Ann, much loved father and father-in-law of Pauline and Jean, Teresa and Sean, Simon and Rachel, Marty and Fiona, Maryann and Caley, Liz and Steve, and the late Helen, cherished Grandad of Sam, Eliana, Rian, Brylee, Will, Ellie, and Annabel. SPAIN, John Maxwell: NZ Navy,15191. Peacefully, on December 10, 2019 at Otago Community Hospice, with his loving wife by his side; aged 81 years.  Dearly loved husband, soulmate and travel buddy of Margaret, loved father of the late Faye, and the late Pauline, cherished grandad of Kylie and Spencer, and GG of Paige, loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Beverley and the late Bill Watt, Charles and Margorie, and Jan Anderson, loved brother-in-law of Dorothy and the late Ian Booth, and a much loved Uncle of all his nieces and nephews.  Loved and proud John Mini Maxwell Spain of Kelsi Chapman and Sharon Gorman. Margaret would like to thank Sharon, Kelsi, and Diane and the Otago Community Hospice staff for their wonderful care of John.   A service to celebrate John's life will be held on Monday, December 16 at 1.30 p.m. in the South Otago Town and Country Club, Yarmouth Street, Balclutha, followed by a private cremation. CLIFFORD, Darcy Earl (Sandy):  Peacefully, on December 13, 2019 at Holmdene Rest Home, Balclutha; in his 84th year.  Dearly loved husband and soulmate of the late Edith Lily, a loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Merle and Colin Irving and their five children. KANE, Nicol John; Peacefully, on December 13, 2019 at Dunedin Hospital, surrounded by his girls; aged 71 years.   Much loved husband and best friend of Judy, cherished dad and father-in-law of Jann and Snow Robertson, Adele and Stuart Cotton, dearly loved grandad of Max, Joe, and Lucy; Georgia, Emma and Sam, and Jacob.   A special thank you to Dr. Ruth Alberts and the staff at Lawrence Medical Centre for all the dedicated care given to Nicol over recent years.   A service of farewell for Nicol will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 2 pm in Simpson Park, Lawrence, then leaving for the Lawrence Cemetery. OWENS, Henry James (Dubby). On December 21st, 2019, peacefully at his home in Kaitangata, surrounded by his loving family; aged 70 years. Beloved husband and friend of Liz, adored father and father-in-law of Henry and Caroline, Penny and Hamish, Joshua and Heather, cherished Grandad of Maddison, Ruby, Henry, Lexi, and Jesse, loved long lost brother of Roger Patterson and his family. A service to celebrate Dubby’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 24th at 1.30 p.m. in our Chapel, 12 James Street, Balclutha, then leaving for the Kaitangata Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations to the Otago Community Hospice would be appreciated and may be left at Dubby’s service. BURGESS, Murray Clive, (formally of Owaka and Cooma, NSW).
Murray passed away peacefully on Sunday 22nd December at his home in Gore; aged 64 years. Dearly loved husband of Zena, loved father of Andrew; Mark and his partner Laura (NSW); loved stepfather of Matthew and Julie; Lara; Kate and Mike; Logan and Eamon, cherished Grandpa of Cameron, Sarah and Thomas; Tai; Lincoln, Lena and the late Aberdeen. Loved and loving son of the late Herbie, dearly loved brother of Lance and Yvette, and the late Sharon, loved uncle of Shaun, and Jeffery; Dee, Nathan, and Alannah. Loved brother in law of Sandra and John Owens, and Greg and Sue Stott, dear friend of Nick; Gary, Emma and Max, and friend to many.We are very grateful to everyone who has been involved in Murray’s care.  A service of farewell for Murray will be held on Monday 30thDecember, 2019 at 11am in the Gore Town and Country Club, 9 Bury Street, Gore. MARSHALL, James Barry (Barry).  Passed away peacefully on Friday 20th  December,2019; in his 78th year.   Dearly loved husband and best friend of Faye for 60 years, much loved father and father-in-law of Lynn and Arlie, Donna and Murray, Mervyn and Debbie, Russell and Mel, and a much loved grandfather and great grandfather.  At Barry’s reques,t a private family service was held on Monday. MAY, Harold Lindis; aged 72 years. Harold passed away peacefully on 26th December,2019 at Dunedin hospital, after a courageous battle, with his loving family by his side. PEPPERELL, Elizabeth Lorraine (Lorraine; nee Illingworth). Lorraine died peacefully on 27thDecember, 2019 at Otago Community Hospice; in her 77th year. Loved mother and mother in law of Sandy and Tony, Allison and Jennie, Richard and Liz, cherished Nanna of Mike and Nicole, Debra, Kevin; Shaylee and Daniel, Shannon, and Brody, adored Great Nanna of Linkin. Loved sister and sister in law of Trevor and Lynley Illingworth, and aunt of Leanne and Stacey, loved former wife of Ernie. 22.08.50 – 05.01.20.  Bill passed away peacefully at his home in Bannockburn after a courageous battle with Lymphoma; aged 69 years.  Loved partner and friend of Ngaire for 19 years, loved father and father-in-law of Billi and Sam Richmond (Marlborough), Brandon and Malin Gold (Stockholm, Sweden), loved Poa of Marley, Louie, Anais, Carmen, and Li (Sweden), Jude, and Charlie (Marlborough), step-dad and grandad to Michelle, Simone, and their families, second son of *Tom and *Dorothy Gold (Balclutha), cherished brother and brother-in-law of Barbara and Russell Hollows, Margaret and *Trevor Allington (Balclutha), Ben and Wendy Gold (Moeraki), Dorothy and Mark Raffills (Auckland) and favourite lap to “Annie” his cat.  (*Denotes deceased.) “Good as Gold – gone fishing one last time”.  A service to farewell Bill will be held on Friday, January 10th at 1.30pm in the Bluff Town Hall, 18 Gore Street, Bluff, followed by a private cremation.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Southland Women’s Rugby and Bluff Junior Rugby would be appreciated and may be left at Bill’s service.  Messages to 28 Miners Terrace, Bannockburn 9384.

Dearly loved wife of Noel for 57 years, mother and mother-in-law of Sharron and Graeme Kelly, much loved daughter of the late Bob and Rita Smith, loved sister and sister-in-law of Lorraine and Winston Swan, and a loved aunty of her nieces and nephews.  At Bev’s request, a private service has been held. McLACHLAN, Lorna Elaine; Peacefully, on January 9th, 2020 at Clutha Views Lifecare, Balclutha; aged 85 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Cliff, a loved stepmother and mother-in-law of Wynston and Wynette, Russell and Philippa, a much-loved Grandma of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and a loved Aunty to all her nieces and nephews.    Lorna’s family would like to thank staff from Clutha Views Lifecare for all their wonderful care of Lorna over the past year.    A funeral Mass will be held for Lorna on Wednesday, January 15th at 1 p.m. in St Mary MacKillop Catholic Church, Gordon Street, Balclutha.  Interment will be held at the Clinton Cemetery at approximately 3.45 p.m.   Messages C/- Russell and Philippa, 13 Clearview Street, Wanaka 9305.
