MURDOCH, Leonard Blair (Len). Peacefully, on August 10th, 2020 at Clutha Health First; aged 89 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Margaret, much loved father and father-in-law of Lynne and the late Ian Craig (Mosgiel), Brian and Wiki, Evan and Lynette (Milton), and the late Ross, treasured Grandad of Carolyn and Blair Hayles (Wellington), Alana and David Mudford (Dunedin) and a cherished Great-Grandad. 
A service of farewell for Len will be held on Friday, August 14th at 1.30 pm in the Toko Rugby Football Club, Union Street, Milton, then leaving for the Fairfax Cemetery. RICHMOND, James William Stewart (Jim). Passed away peacefully on 14th August, 2020, at Clutha Health First; in his 89th year. SMITH, Arthur William. Peacefully, at his home in Milton on August 18, 2020; aged 77 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Wendy, loved son of the late John and Mary Smith, loved brother and brother-in-law of Glenda the late Erin Hand, Colin and Bonnie, Marie and the late Ken, the late Karen and Brian and a loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews.  Attendees will be limited to 100 people.    A service of farewell for Arthur will be held on Saturday 22nd August, at 11am in the Milton Country Club, then leaving for the Fairfax Cemetery. STOOP, Nicolaas Simon Cornelis (Nick). Peacefully, at Otago Community Hospice on August 18, 2020; aged 88 years. Loved father and father-in-law of *Frances, *Christopher, Fiona, Liz and Gary Philpott, Paul and Lisa, Greg and Gill, a loved partner of *Shirley Johnstone, loved Opa to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a respected friend of Gonda Stoop and the Johnstone Families and a loved brother to Matilda.  (*denotes deceased).    At Nick’s request, a private family interment has been held. MORRISON, Patricia Joan, (Joan). Peacefully on 21stAugust, 2020; aged 92 years. KELL, Isabella Agnes (Ella) (nee Gordon).   Passed away peacefully at Holmdene Rest Home, Balclutha on August 23, 2020; aged 83 years.  Dearly loved wife of the late Alwyn, much loved mother and mother-in-law of Catheryn Kell-Clarke and Martin Clarke (Hertfordshire, UK), Jill Jones and Chris Kelsey (Perth), Lorraine and Tim Johnson (Dunedin), Gordon and Emma (Stirling), much loved Grandma of Bridgette; Meagan and Jerome, Cayley and Mark, and Abby; Molly, and Jacob; AJ, Lucy, and Graycen.  “You will be sadly missed”. “Now safe in the arms of her beloved Lord”.    A special thanks to the wonderful carers at Holmdene.  A service for Ella will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 11 a.m. in the Balclutha Presbyterian Church, 72 Clyde Street, Balclutha, then leaving for the Balclutha Lawn Cemetery.  Attendees will be limited to 100.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Balclutha St John Ambulance would be appreciated and may be left at Ella’s service.   Messages C/- 69 Earls Road, St Clair, Dunedin 9012 or email solebalance@westnet.com.au. 
 

HEWSON, Desmond Gilbert (Des). On Monday, August 24, 2020 at Dunedin Hospital, Des passed away peacefully after a brief illness.  Dearly loved husband of Merle for 60 years, father of Wayne, Rowena, Devon, Grant, and the late Brendan.  Des was a father-in-law, grandfather and a great grandad.    A service of farewell for Des will be held on Friday, August 28, at 2 pm in the South Otago Town and Country Club, Yarmouth Street, Balclutha, followed by a private family interment. VANDERHILST, Patricia Raylene. Died bravely and peacefully on 30th August, 2020 with her loving family at her side at Clutha Health First, Balclutha, aged 69 years. Dearly loved wife of Hans, loving mother of Pete, Deb, and Sanz, treasured Nana of Seanna, Kearra, Jasmine, Pepper, Sage, Shaydar, Conner, and Atlanta, Great Grandmother of Lacey.  A service to celebrate Pats life will be held on Thursday 3rd September 2020, at 1.30 pm, in our Chapel, 12 James Street, Balclutha, followed by a private cremation. VERMEER, Theodorus Antonius (Theo). Suddenly, on September 4, 2020 at his home in Milburn; aged 78 years. Much loved father of Steffan and a treasured friend to many.  A service to celebrate Theo’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 1.30 p.m. in our Chapel, 12 James Street, Balclutha, followed by a private cremation. GRIFFIN, Julia IIdiko (nee Campbell).  It is with great sadness, Julia passed away suddenly on September 4, 2020 at Dunedin Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends; aged 47 years. A devoted and loving mum of Holly, and Jenna, very special and loving niece to Susa Beres-Brundell, loved cousin of Joshua and Maddie Brundell, James Brundell and Chelsea Porter, and a loved niece and cousin to Paul, Karen, Jordan, and Lucy Beres.    Due to Covid19 restrictions, a private family service for Julia will be held, followed by a private cremation.  A Memorial Service to celebrate Julia’s life will be held at a later date.   Messages to 21 Burns Street, Milton 9220
 

GOLD, Thomas Bruce (Goldie).  After a courageous battle, Goldie passed away on 8thSeptember, 2020 at Dunedin Hospital, surrounded by his loving family; aged 84 years young. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Vaughan Mitchell, Mandy and Mark Satterley (Australia), Lisa and Paul Stoop, Shelley and Brendon Smith, cherished and much-loved Grandad of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friend of Jill.   A service of farewell for Goldie will be held on Monday, 14th September, at 1.30 pm in our Chapel, 12 James Street, Balclutha, followed by a private cremation. EDMONDS, James Peter (Jim).  Peacefully, on 10thSeptember, 2020 at Clutha Views Lifecare, with his loving family by his side, aged 86 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Patricia, much loved father and father-in-law of Michelle Maurice (Mosgiel),  Phil and Judi (Omarama), Debbie and Paul Gouman (Greenfield), Greg and Sally (Dunedin), and a treasured Grandad of Tony, Kelly and Joe; Lucinda and Terry, Kirsty and Rodger; Leah, Tegan, Scott; Keaton, and Brenna, and Great Grandad of Madison, Mason, Macsen, and Ruby.  Loved brother and brother-in-law of Maree and the late Bob Way, Broday and the late Lois Edmonds, and a much-loved uncle of all Patricia and Jim’s nieces and nephews.  R.I.P. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Jim on Tuesday, 15th September, at 1.30 p.m. in St Mary MacKillop Catholic Church, Gordon Street, Balclutha, then leaving for the Balclutha Lawn Cemetery.  Attendees will be limited to 100. Loved husband of the late Mona, loved father and father-in-law of Peter (PC) and Jo, Allison and Rolf, James and Daniel, Gerald*, Warwick and Ngaire, loved Grandpa of Nicola and Scott, Bethany and Sam, Christina and Josh, and Hamish, and loved Great Grandpa of Lily, Liam, Harrison, and Lucas. Due to Covid restrictions, a private service will be held to celebrate Haddon’s life, on Wednesday 16th September, at 2.30pm.  If you would like to attend the service in person, or via Zoom, please contact Warwick. CLARKE, Aileen Mary (nee Hollows).   18.11.1963 – 18.9.2020.  
Passed away peacefully at Clutha Health First, Balclutha on Friday, 18 September 2020, after a long battle with cancer. Aileen was surrounded by family and slipped away with dignity. Dearly loved wife and best friend of Steve for 34 years and devoted mother to Hannah, and Abby. Loved daughter of Wattie* and Alice Hollows and sister and sister-in-law of Wayne and Debra, and Liz. Daughter-in-law of Bob* and Lynda Kaan and Neil and Robyn Clarke (Sydney). Sister-in-law to Michelle and Phil (Melbourne). Aileen will leave a huge hole in many lives. (*denotes deceased).  Special thanks to Chris Jackson and the team at Mercy, the lovely nurses at 8C in Dunedin, Hospice Otago, the District and ward nurses at Clutha Health First and ambo’s Ken and Suzie for taking care of her.   A service for Aileen will be held in the Owaka Memorial Community Hall on Thursday, September 24 at 1pm, followed by a private cremation.  The service will be streamed on Zoom.
